Programs and Services


Men's Shelter

Up to 130 men who would otherwise be homeless call our shelter "home" each night. These men receive dinner, a clean bed, and a shower (along with personal care items provided through donations).  The men attend evening chapel and are offered a hot breakfast each morning.

Community Meal

A hot, nutrious meal is served to more than 200 men, women and children from the community each night.  Food is provided through donations and served by volunteers.  SBM offers a safe, clean, non-threatening athmosphere to those in need.    

Men's Residential Discipleship Ministry

Bible-based rehabilitation program offers a fresh start. While here each resident man is counseled, educated, trained and equipped to become the productive member of society he was created to be.

Women & Family Shelter and Discipleship Ministry

Bible-based rehabilitation program offers a fresh start. While at SBM each resident woman is counseled, educated, trained and equipped to become the productive member of society she was created to be.

Back-to-School Rally

This great event held on the 3rd Saturday in August each year equips kids with backpacks and supplies to complete their homework along with providing the opportunity to share the knowledge that they can overcome distractions at school through Jesus Christ.  SBM's desire is that these children begin the school year with the tools they need and experience sucess throughout the year.

Great Thanksgiving Banquet & Food Outreach

This "Great" outreach serves a Banquet of more than 800 meals at noon on Thanksgiving Day and provides 1,400 food boxes on Mon. and Tue. (Thanksgiving Week) for families/individuals to prepare a Thanksgving dinner at home. -  Serving Wilm.and beyond each year! In addition, individuals who bring their children to the Great Thanksgiving Banquet will receive a voucher in Dec. for the Christmas Shop to receive new/free gifts for each child who had attended the banquet.

Medical Clinic

The doors to the mission open on Tuesday nights from 5-7PM to offer basic medical care to people living on the streets.  Volunteer medical professionals are faithful in offering their much needed services to those that would otherwise not receive the care that they need.

Thrift Store

Will resume business for 2018 on 2/3/2018.  Clothing, furniture and other household items are available for sale at extremely low prices.  Open to the public on Wed. afternoon (1-3PM) and Sat. (9AM-3PM).  For donation inquiries contact Jim Smith at or call (302) 656-8542 x 108.

Smyrna Prison Ministry

SBM staff and volunteers minister to and care for prisoners on a monthly basis at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, DE.  This ministry is performed through the prison's chaplaincy program which schedules Bible studies and Sunday services.
